    Now that's an epiphany! Students who do better than their peers possess more self discipline. I hope somebody didn't have to pay a lot of money for someone to come up with that!

    The problem for educators, however, is how we are supposed to instill self discipline in our students. We can provide structure and forced discipline on our students, but that doesn't have much to do with the students disciplining themselves. That comes from home.

    In a society in which the media, pop culture, and consumerism emphasize immediate gratification, parents have their work cut out for them.
